Analogue Film Academy

Every thing you neeed to know about working with film in our new FREE online newsletter, a resource for analogue film aimed at hobbyists and professional to find out what happening in the world of celluloid, particularly 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm/S16.

We run unique FREE workshops and short courses in Super 8, 16mm, 35mm filmmaking and sound recording for film. We also offer private tuition, these sessions can be tailored to your individual needs and are some of the best value education you can get to improve your filmmaking skills. Our tutors are professional fimmakers and they are experienced and qualified to teach at various levels.

We use modern analogue professional film equipment and look at contemporary digital post-production methods, so that participants gain the fundemental knowledge of the traditional analogue film workflow when used with modern digital tools.

Introduction to 16mm filmmaking

Come and join us in this one day workshop which will take place in Birmingham City centre [UK]. It introduces current 16mm and Super 16 filmmaking practices where participants gain an elementary knowledge of Super 16 and visual storytelling.

On the day we will explore camera, film stock and processing & Scanning options, as well as looking at exposure, lenses, loading cameras. We learn about scripting and planning for a film shoot.

The unique aspect of this course is that all the participants produce a short film, which may be narrative fiction, documentary, or an experimental piece exploring an idea, feeling, notion or thought.
